I work in my home on Internet based job. I have BSNL connection with BB. However my area has heavy lightening attacks. Is there anything I can do prevent damage due attack of lightening on my telephone/modem/PC ? More over I use foot pedal for my work which is connected to PC via COM port. Is there any chance of electrocution if mytelephone line or electrical line gets hit by lightening?

Make sure you get a fully capable electricity & modem surge-guard.
Do not go cheap on this: they are, after all, designed to be like a sacrificial lamb, so you only lose an Rs1,500 device instead of an Rs15,000 one (if it takes a particularly heavy hit, that is). A UPS would be even better, cause then when the electricity goes off, you have a few minutes to shut your PC down smoothly. |
